An exciting week so far, with our U17 hurlers winning the U17 Academy A title in style last night v Doora Barefield, well done to the team, panel and mentors on a strong performance. | Academy News

Congratulations to our U17 hurlers who captured the Academy A title in Gurteen on Thursday evening with a 2-12 to 0-08 win over St. Joseph's Doora-Barefield. It was a very impressive performance from the boys and huge credit is due to their mentors for having them as ready for the challenge as they showed.  Martin Williams Concrete U17 Academy A Final St. Joseph's, Doora-Barefield 0-08 Éire Óg 2-12

Team captain Conor Quirke accepted the trophy from Gavin Moroney, Coiste na nÓg Iomaint after the game. Come on the Townies.

On Sunday 15th September, our U17s will contest the A hurling ¼ final in a tie v Inagh Kilnamona in Éire Óg @ 11am.

Our U15 hurlers had a good win on Monday evening over Scarriff/Ogonnelloe in their championship putting them on top spot for the moment. It's the turn of the Academy team on Saturday morning when they host Kilmaley at 11am in Eire Og for the 1st round of the Academy competition.

Our minor footballers were held to a draw by Cratloe on Wednesday evening in the Division 1 championship. Not an ideal result but credit to Cratloe who saw the game out to the end and hauled in a five point deficit with only minutes remaining. St. Breckan's are our visitors on Wednesday evening in the penultimate round of the Division in what is now a must win game.

| Cúrsaí Gaeilge

Míle buiochas to those members who completed the recent survey on use of Gaeilge in Éire Óg.  Tá a lá daoine a bhfuil suim acu sa teanga agus fonn orthu í a labhairt.  Ba bhreá le roinnt mhaith daoine go mbeadh imeachtaí (events) ar siúl sa chlub le haghaidh teaghlaigh ( for families).  Arising from the survey, tháinig grúpa beag daoine le chéile cupla uair chun smaointe a phlé agus bfhéidir cupla gníomh a eagrú le haghaidh páistí agus a dtuismitheoirí (for kids and parents) Shocraíomar ar Tráth na gCeist a bheith againn sa chlub ar an 27ú Meánfomhair-tré Gaeilge ach éasca le tuiscint agus gan aon bhrú ar éinne bheith ag labhairt Gaeilge (no pressure, lots of fun!) Freisin, tá súil againn beagán Gaeilge a shníomh isteach i dtraenáil na bpáistí óga, go dtuigfidh siad gur teanga beo í, gur féidir a úsáid más mian leo. Tá súil againn tosnú ar sin sar i bhfad (shortly). Chomh maith leis an dá rud sin, tá Caint is Craic fós ar siúl sa chlubtheach gach Oiche Déardaoin ar a naoi.  So anybody who would like to try the cupla focal, no matter how long forgotten or how rusty, beidh fáilte romhat. Go on-Bain triail as! Nóta don dialann:  Dé hAoine, 27 Meán Fómhair, 8.30 pm, Tráth na gCeist Boird sa chlubtheach.  Proceeds to Cahercalla Community Hospice.
