Senior County Final incoming!

Time to round the troops and fly the flags for our senior footballers who will take on Kilmurry Ibrickane in the senior football final on Sunday 27th October. We will be decking the town out on Monday evening and appeal to local businesses and members to show their support by flying the red and white far and wide. Send on pics to Assumpta by WhatsApp 085 8795475 so they can be shared on our Facebook page.

Tom Healy from Spar Turnpike has kindly offered to sell merchandise for the club. Large and medium flags, bunting and wool plaits are currently available there. Thanks to Tom & staff for facilitating this. Let’s get the colours on display ahead of our Junior A semi and Intermediate ladies Munster game on Sunday!

Club Championships

A big weekend ahead with a couple of key ties for the adult club on Sunday. Our Junior A hurlers vying for a spot in this year’s final when they take on the Mills at 12pm while at 1 in Bansha, our ladies step into Munster Championship when they travel to meet Cappawhite. Whatever you do the weekend be sure to show your support for our teams wherever possible #redandwhite:

Tickets for Junior A can be purchased here with a €4 discount for tickets purchased online: https://eventlist.store/claregaa/tickets

Hard luck to our Junior A and B footballers who battled hard in their respective semi finals last weekend. It wasn’t to be but we would like to acknowledge the huge efforts that both teams and managements have put in all year, it was a great achievement to have 3 adult teams reach the semi finals.

Well done to our Intermediate camogie team who put up a tremendous battle to get over the line in their relegation match last Friday night.

Next week
Senior Football County Final v Kilmurry Ibrickane in Cusack Park, Sunday 27th October @ 2.30pm

An Cúpla focal

As Oifigeach Gaeilge of Éire Óg, part of my brief is to encourage the use of the cúpla focal among members, óg agus sean.  We’ve all got more írish than we think, hidden away, I bhfolach sa chuimhne and all we need is a small bit of encouragement-and courage-take the first steps in making use of it and making it useful.

So, tosnóímid le roinnt nathanna simplí a d’fhoghlaim gach éinne:

Go raibh maith agat, or go raibh mile maith agat
Tá fáilte romhat (you’re welcome)
Slán tamall (bye for now), or slán go fóill
Gabh mo leithscéal-(excuse me)
Ná habair é (Don’t mention it)
Cé’n t-am é (What time is it?)
Ná bac (Never mind)

Bainimís triall as na frásaí sin sa bhaile, leis an gclann, remember “Tús maith leath na hoibre”
And we’ll try a few more easy ones next week.
