I wish to convey the deep sadness felt across the Club and beyond with yesterday’s news of the passing of former Club President, team manager and longtime supporter Bishop Willie Walsh. An article from Club Chair Brian Howard will issue later on today. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam dílis
Club & Community 5K Walk and Fun Run
After careful consideration following the unexpected passing of Bishop Willie, it has been decided that our Club 5K will go ahead tomorrow, Saturday 22nd.
Bishop Willie led a very active lifestyle, promoted athleticism throughout his life and chose walking himself whenever possible. As such we have chosen to proceed with the event and to dedicate it to his spirit and tenacity, as we believe he would have preferred.
We meet from 10.30 at the clubhouse with the walk/fun run leaving at 11am. All are welcome to join us, member and non member alike. We just request that people pre register on the short form at the link below as soon as possible.

The theme for this year’s parade is “We love Clare because…” and the parade will take place on bank holiday Monday 17th March 2025 at 11:00 a.m.

Munster GAA is delighted to announce that the 2025 Scholarship Competition for second-level students aged between 12 – 17 years, wishing to attend a Gaeltacht course this Summer is now open for applications. (minimum stay 2 weeks).
One Full scholarship per county in the province will be awarded. Scholarships will cover the full cost of the Gaeltacht course. Entry requirements are as follows:
Applicants must be a current member of a GAA, LGFA or Camogie Club in Munster.
Applicants aged 12 – 17 are required to submit a video recording in Irish of ONE MINUTE’S duration on the following Topic:
An Fhoireann is fearr liom (Based on Gaelic games of all codes)
Video to also include a brief introduction of self from the student, outlining their interest in Gaeilge and our culture.
Videos and application forms to be submitted by February 26th, 2025

Camogie Referees
Calling any wannabe refs Clare camogie is running a referee course in Woodstock on March 1st from 9:30-4pm.
There is no charge as the Association pays the tutors but there is a small cost of €20 that covers the referee ‘pack’ everyone receives on completion. The ‘pack’ consists of a referee wallet, inserts, rule books and a whistle. Link below to register.
Please note that the Club will reimburse the €20 to any current member that completes this training.

Club lotto jackpot now stands at €8625. Last Thursday’s numbers were: 1, 3, 17, 24. There was no Jackpot winner, and 3 x Match 3 winners @ €35 each: Liam Griffin, Deborah Ryan & Kay O’Connor. The Promoters Prize of €25 went to Marie Molony. Well done to all. Paul will be in touch re prizes.
