We are well along in championship season now, senior hurlers and footballers have reached the quarter finals, with the hurlers drawn against familiar foes Inagh Kilnamona and the football draws to take place next Tuesday, September 2nd. A live link to the draw will be shared on club socials once we get it. The hurling 1/4 is scheduled for Sunday, September 7th at 5pm in Cusack Park.

Our senior ladies have had a tough few games in their first year at senior level with stiff opposition from Fergus Rovers and County Champions Kilmurry Ibrickane, the girls were unlucky to not come away with a win or even a draw in their away game to Burren Gaels. This leaves them in relegation territory with a deciding game to be fixed for September 21st. Details tbc. The Junior B ladies team have yet to play having round 1 deferred and receiving a walkover in round 2. They are out in action on Friday 5th away to Cooraclare.

Our intermediate camogie team had a good win over Crusheen in round 1 and look forward to round 2 on Friday evening.

Our Junior A footballers are going well with 2 wins from 2 so far, while Premier Junior footballers have emerged from the round robin with 3 wins from 3, our second Junior B football team have 2 losses and a walkover from O’Curry’s so far, their final round v Clarecastle is in 2 weeks time.

Our intermediate hurlers have a win and a loss so far, with 2 rounds left to play, next up is Smith O’Briens in Kilkishen Friday night. Our Junior B hurlers have 2 wins from 2 and 2 left to play, next up is Clonlara on Sunday at 11.45am in Kilkishen. Our Junior C hurlers are still settling in with 2 losses from 2 and 3 games to come.

Ladies Football

The U14 championship has kicked off, with our Red Team playing Fergus Rovers 1 and 2 in their first games. They recorded a good win over Fergus Rovers 2 but came up short against a very strong 1st team. The White team had their first game against the Banner in terrible conditions in Lees Road and despite being level at half time, were unable to push on to victory.

The u12s finished out their Peil na gCailini championship, with the white team defeating Clarecastle in their final, and the red team losing to Fergus Rovers in theirs.

Academy

Minor Hurling & Football It's been a busy time for minor players with the club fielding a first & second team in both codes. While the logistics can be challenging, it is of enormous benefit in guaranteeing game time to players. It is hoped that each of our 2008 born players will have had sufficient time to ensure they return for their first year in adult fare in 2026.

On the playing fields the footballers take on St. Joseph's Doora-Barefield on Sunday morning at 10.30 in Eire Og in the penultimate round of the Div. 1 Championship. On Tuesday 2nd September our second team face Banner in the B/C championship in Shanaway Rd. at 6.45.

The hurlers had a good 2-22 to 2-14 win over Clonlara on Monday to give a kick-start to their "A" Championship. A win over Clooney-Quin in the final round on 8th September is required to claim a place in the knock-out round. Our minor Academy team have earned a place in the Academy "A" Shield Final with a win over Inagh-Kilnamona on Thursday evening. Clonlara await in the final.

We would like to acknowledge the very generous sponsorship provided by John & Rachel O'Farrell, Specsavers Ennis towards a new set of home and away jerseys for our minor teams. Thanks to Pa Broderick for arranging the order and delivery from O'Neills. The kits will be having their first outings this weekend.

Training has commenced for the upcoming U14 Hurling & Football Championships. We had multiple teams entered in the Super 10s tournaments in both codes ran at Caherlohan in recent weeks.

Lost Property

Please check the image attached containing various items of lost property that are currently located in the referees room at the club.

A large proportion are items left after this year's summer camp, but there are some adult size tops and other miscellaneous items there also.

Please go into the referees room and take any item that your child may have left behind. The room is generally open during training times.

Any items not retrieved by Saturday 6th September at 12 noon are free to be taken by any other member that will use them. Whatever is still remaining by Friday 12th September will be given to charity.

We will not be able to keep lost property in the referees room going forward as its purpose is to facilitate referees for games at the club and so it needs to be kept clear.

Thanks to Auriol who spent quite a lot of time sorting all the items.
