The club was very sad to learn of the passing of one of our longest standing supporting members, Tony Kelly from Fergus Park. Tony is remembered fondly by Pat Brennan and others as an out and out gent and a father figure to the senior hurling team of the 60s when he was ever present on the sidelines encouraging teams and helping out. He became firm friends with Vince Loftus and continued to support the Club throughout his lifetime.
Tony is pictured here with his club membership card from 1960, the photo was taken by Mary O’Donnell earlier this year when the Liam McCarthy cup visited Cuan an Chláir.
The bed of heaven to Tony, may be rest in eternal peace. The Club will form a Guard of Honour following Tony’s requiem mass which takes place at 1pm on Sunday at the Cathedral.
