What a busy couple of weeks it has been, the very best type of busy at that. We have certainly had the time of our lives, to first bridge a 35 year gap in winning the senior hurling final and hurtle then straight into the senior football final and have to fight a huge battle to get over the line there, the joy, the relief as the final whistle blew is hard to articulate. While ‘only a game’ to many but it means so much, to the players, the management and backroom, to the followers and supporters, young and old. In a year tinged with the sadness of loss of loved ones throughout the club, the words of Joe Ó Muircheartaigh struck a chord “In the darkest of hours, in the depths of despair. Let the Éire Óg boys roar for to rattle the air”.
The Canon was won, the Jack was retained, the double was done, history was made. We are still on cloud nine as we hit into a new weekend, and we may reside there for quite some time!
An Canónach agus Jack le chéile ar an Taobhagán!
A leithéid de liúraigh agus ceiliúradh in Éire Óg oiche Dé Domhnaigh seo caite chun fáiltiú ar ais dá laochra peile agus Corn Sheáin Uí Dhálaigh go docht i ngreim an chaptaein Aaron Mac Gearailt. Cad é mar oíche a bhí ann, tar éis lá nach ndéanfar dearmad air go deo, clós an chlub plódaithe le muintir na háite, an astro ag dul thar maoil le daoine óga ag léimt, ag rith, ag cleachtadh le camáín agus caid, lucht an phainéil istigh ina measc, ag síniú geansaithe, ag glacah selfies leis na gasúir, atmasféar draíóchta ar fuaid na háite! Ó a Mhuire Mháthair, beidh cuimhne ar an tseachtain seo go fada an lá. Ardmholadh tuillte ag na peileadóirí a luigh chun oibre díreach tar éis an iomáint a bhuachaint an Domhnach roimhe sin, le taispeánt chomh dáiríre a bhí siad ar thóír na craoibhe peile.
Níl amhras ach go mbeidh an dá chorn ag tabhair cuairt ar na scoileanna na laethanta seo, chun gach buntáiste a ghlacadh ar an éacht dochreidte, mar is iad na páistí bunscoile síol an todhchaí, iad siúd na himreoirí a bheidh ag caitheamh an dearg agus bán amach anseo, caithfear iad a spreagadh agus a chothú.
Mo cheol sibh curaithe na hiománaithe agus na peile-ta éacht stairiúil déanta agaibh.
