Éire Óg Inis GAA have decided it’s time to take the next major step in their development and are undertaking to employ a Games Development Officer in the club. The position will be filled on a full-time basis with a very competitive salary and employment conditions.

Club chairman Jimmy Cooney says “This is a fantastic opportunity for any aspiring coaches or young graduates looking to develop a career in grass roots GAA”. One of the main roles of the successful candidate will be to act as a club/school link with all the primary and secondary schools of Ennis. Éire Óg Inis are an ever-growing GAA club and providing boys and girls of Ennis with the best facilities and coaching opportunities is a very important part of the club’s further development. “We have ambitious plans to increase playing numbers and improve coaching standards. Employing a full time Games Development Officer is a logical next step for us. It is the culmination of 3 years intensive work by our Coaching & Games committee to put effective structures in place in the club to facilitate the work of the GDO.

Éíre Óg Inis undertook a strategic plan in 2018, an exercise that focussed the members’ efforts in putting clear structures in place to improve playing and coaching standards in the club. Our strategic plan was also a commitment to work toward the One Club model, whereby our hurling & football, camogie and ladies football clubs all joined up under the one umbrella. This new club structure is a statement on the importance of equality & community in the club.

The Townies are very excited by the possibilities of this addition to the club’s resources. It will have a huge impact on player numbers and coaching standards. They will act as a coordinator of coaching activities in the club as well as running coaching courses and camps during school holidays, while also enabling the club reach out to disadvantaged youth in spreading the GAA message.
