CLG Éire Óg Inis recently appointed Clare football star Cian O’ Dea as Games Development Officer (GDO) in the club. Cian came through a recruitment and interview process and will take up duty on August 1st, when his first task will be the management of the club’s summer camp from August 3rd to 7th. The Kilfenora stalwart, who also plays hurling with Corofin, will act as a link between Éire Óg and local schools, coaching the skills of hurling and football, organising tournaments at the club and co-ordinating the work and training of coaches and mentors at the Clonroadmore Grounds. This initiative is part of Éire Óg’s 5 Year Development Plan launched in 2018.

Club chairman, Jimmy Cooney, pictured with Cian and club PRO, Assumpta Hehir, assured Cian of the full support of the club in his role as GDO and wished him every success in the task ahead. He hoped all local GAA clubs would benefit from his work, as there is an urgent need for the organisation to reach out to the high percentage of local school children who don’t participate in organised sport.
