The Club expresses its deepest condolences to the family of Hugh O'Donnell on his recent passing. Hugh was a founder member of Éire Óg Inis in 1952, its first secretary in fact, played junior and senior hurling for the club, and is a holder of senior championship medals in 1956 and 57. Hugh also played minor football and hurling for Clare, then turned to refereeing and officiated at a number of county senior football finals. Hugh maintained a life-long interest in the GAA and promoted hurling, football and camogie in St. Patrick’s Comprehensive School, Shannon, where he was deputy principal from its inception until he became principal in 1993. Hugh was also a former captain of Shannon Golf Club, where he has lived for many years.

The Club will form a Guard of Honour for Hugh following requiem mass which takes place in St. John and Paul Church Shannon at 11am. Please adhere to social distancing and public health guidelines.
