It is with deep sadness that we learned of the death of our great clubman and former President, John O' Halloran, Cahercalla. John began his playing career with Kilrush Shamrocks, before joining the merchant navy and travelling the world. On his return, he became an airport policeman in Shannon, where he climbed through the ranks and again travelled abroad representing Shannon APOs at St. Patrick's Day Parades in many countries. After he joined Éire Óg, he was always willing to help out around the clubhouse, cleaning out dressing rooms, tending the shrubs and particularly hoisting and lowering the flags.
John was a most sociable man and loved nothing better than meeting his friends in the clubhouse of a Sunday night, where he regaled one and all with yarns about his travels to faraway places with strange sounding names and maybe even a bar or three of The Auld Triangle.
The club will have a Guard of honour for John on Saturday before and after Mass.

John O’Halloran, Cahercalla Hill, Ennis, Co. Clare and formerly of Kilrush, Co. Clare. February 22nd 2022 (peacefully) at University Hospital, Limerick. Predeceased by his sister Josephine Latchem. Sadly missed by his beloved wife Mary (née Bradley), loving children Wilma and Darragh, son-in-law Paul, adored grandchildren Zoe and Leah, brother Pat, sister Breda McMahon, sisters-in-law Imelda and Teresa, brother-in-law Christie, nieces, nephews, extended family, wonderful neighbours and friends.

Reposing at Kennedy’s Funeral Home, Ennis on Friday evening (25th February) from 5.30 pm until 6.30 pm. The funeral cortége will leave the family home at 10.30 am on Saturday morning on route to Ennis Cathedral for Requiem Mass at 11 am, followed by Cremation Service at Shannon Crematorium at 1 pm. Family flowers only, please.
