Eire Óg Golf Society got their season up and running today with a tough fixture away to Gort. A fine panel of 26 togged out with a nice blend of youth and experience 😂. Facing the elements in the first “half” it was clear that many of the Townie team had little preparation done and many struggled to keep the ball in play despite the width of the “pitch” !! The scoreboard had a blank look to it at half time. To be fair, the visitors upped the ante in the second half and started to find their rhythm late in the game and tacked on some lovely “scores” in the closing stages which adds some hope for days ahead. Best for Eire Óg on the day were Micheal Murphy (36pts), Declan Coote (35pts) and Mike Meagher (31pts). Prizes will be awarded later in the season. The secret four ball went to Enda McNamara and Declan Coote with a score of 56pts. They win €50 a man. Thanks to everyone for playing and a tough 7 weeks training ahead of our next day out in Portumna in early May where we hope to see many more of our panel in attendance 👍. Thanks also to our hosts in Gort who looked after us like their own. Til the next time…..
Just a few snaps emerged from the day, a camera shy crowd really...!
