A tasty clash of Town teams in store on Sunday when we travel to Gurteen to take on the Banner in the junior A hurling quarter-final tie. The game throws in at 1.30, be sure to get out and show your support for our lads.

2 wins and a loss in their championship rounds see our junior A and B football teams progress to a quarter final and playoff respectively. Our junior A’s will play Kilkee next Sat (17th) in Kilmihill while our B’s play Michael Cusack’s on Sunday in Corofin.

Next weekend also sees the final round games for our intermediate camogie (Friday) and ladies’ football (Sun 18th) teams.

Well done to our junior B ladies’ team who finished off their championship with a win over East Clare Gaels last Tuesday in Éire Óg. The ladies have had a mixed bag of results on their first year out, they have fielded for every game in the league and championship and we look forward to seeing more next year. Onwards and upwards.

Ferns Fitness Fridays

A reminder that tonight is the first night of Ferns Fitness Fridays in Éire Óg. All are welcome and all fitness levels will be catered for. The class is taking place during Academy training time (starting 6.35pm) and costs €5. Meeting at the clubhouse, be sure to come along and try it out. Spread the word!!!

Info evening for Dressing rooms/Gym project

Most of you will be aware that CLG Éire Óg Inis has obtained full planning permission for the construction of a gym and 2 dressing rooms at our grounds at Clonroadmore.

An Information Evening for members will be held on the project on Thursday week next, September 15th, at 8.30 pm in the Temple Gate Hotel. The purpose of the event is to bring members up to date on progress with the project so far, outline how we hope to progress things from here and, above all, to enlist the support of the club members for this most important development.

The evening will take the form of a presentation by the project committee, followed by a Q&A session, followed by informal chats over light refreshments.
As this will be an opportunity for members to scrutinise the proposal, ask questions and hopefully commit to the project, also an opportunity for the club executive to gauge support for the development, I earnestly encourage as many members as possible to attend.

Camogie

On Saturday 10th, our U13s host Truagh at 12.30pm, while our minors once again meet Corofin in a shield final. This game is pencilled in for Inagh at 4pm. On Wed 14th our U16s take on Cratloe with time and venue to be confirmed. Next weekend our intermediates play their final round game v Whitegate in Shannon on Friday and on Saturday our junior C camogie team are in a shield semi v Ruan, fixture details to be confirmed.

Academy

Well done to our Minor Hurling Academy team who won their final match v Clooney-Quin last Friday. It is disappointing there isn't a Shield competition for the lads who finished 3rd in the group by virtue of score difference. The games provided great exposure for our 14, 15, 16 and 17 year olds involved throughout.

Our minor footballers got the better of neighbours Clarecastle on Wednesday on a 4-10 to 1-09 scoreline. A result will be required against Wolfe Tones on Friday 16th to secure qualification to the Div. 2 Quarter Finals.

48 hours earlier on Wednesday the lads host Kilmaley in Eire Og in a must win clash in Minor A Hurling. Best of luck to all involved in both teams.

Our U14s footballers kick-off their "A" competition against Clondegad on Saturday morning in Ballynacally.

U14 Academy "A" Hurlers face off against Kilmaley on Sunday evening at 5pm in Kilmaley.

U12 Go-Games Hurling continues on Sunday with the visit of Clooney-Quin to Eire Og at 11am.

U10 Football Go-Games v Doora-Barefield in Gurteen on Sunday at 11am.

U8 Hurling Go-Games in Clonlara on Saturday morning at 10.15.

Thanks to Cian O' Dea, our Games Development Officer, who has commenced Athletic Development and S&C with our 2008/09 born players. This will be of huge to the boys going into future years.

Plenty of action accross all groups in the Academy. As ever huge thanks is due to the coaches who make all this happen.

We are always on the lookout for parents (& non-parents) who are willing to give a couple of hours a week to assist with coaching and activities.

Ladies football

Intermediates out in action v Fergus Gaels on Sunday at 3.30pm in Lissycasey. On Tuesday 13th our minors play Newmarket on Fergus in Éire Óg at 6.30pm and on Thursday 15th our U14s play Clarecastle in Éire Óg at6.30pm.

The best of luck to all teams.

A huge thanks once again to all that supported last weekend’s Ger O’Meara Memorial Golf Classic. Approximately €6300 was raised for the club coffers, a very successful day out thanks in no small part to all the supporters and of course the organisers, Paul Nihill, Jimmy Cooney, Fergal Brennan, thanks also to Enda & Luke Howard, David & Ruth Nihill, Aileen Doohan and Assumpta Hehir for their assistance during the event.
