A special note of thanks to Mike Brennan for match photos throughout the junior campaign and for his work on the team profiles in the run up to the final.

Shinty Weekend update
This weekend Éire Óg Inis has the honour of hosting our long standing friends from the Highlands in Inverness, Beauly Shinty Club. The weekend festivities commence with a Junior Hurling Exhibition match v Beauly on Friday at 6:00. Our Academy Hurlers will form a guard of honour for the players onto the main pitch at 5:55. We encourage all club members, young and old to come and enjoy the spectacle, have a warm coffee or something stronger from Petey in the bar.

On Saturday night our guests will tour the Wild Atlantic Way and return to the clubhouse at 8:00 for our club social night. There will be live music with Adam Moloney and a BBQ. This is a fantastic opportunity for all club members to gather on the eve of the county football semi final.

It’s important we give a good welcome to our guests and who knows we might even plan a return journey to the highlands next year.

Camogie

Well done to our U16 camogie team who booked a spot in the final having overcome Wolfe Tones in a fiercely competitive match. Final score 5.12 to 4.08. The final v Ruan takes place next week.

The big one this weekend sees our U13B team take on Doora Barefield in the Cup final. These girls have had a great year under the guidance of Tadhg MacNamara, John Lawlor, Gerry Curran, Tracy Whelan & Diarmuid Kelly. We wish them the very best of luck on Sunday. The game throws in at 11am in Fr. McNamara Park. Come on down to support the girls.

Our camogie section have organised a clothing collection, starting this eve from 6 to 7pm. See full detail below

Academy

Plenty to shout about for our Academy teams this weekend:

On Saturday morning, our minor footballers take on Wolfe Tones in the Div 2/3 championship semi final, game throws in at 11am in Shannon.

Division 1 County final for our U14 footballers on Sunday morning who play for top spot against Doora Barefield at 10am in Clarecastle.

U14A hurling shield semi-final will see Éire Óg playing Ballyea on Saturday 15th October @ 11.30am.

The U16 Academy competition fixtures commence on the October Bank Holiday weekend, October 29/31st and will run every weekend from them in. The U16 Academy is a knockout competition.

The U12s, U10s and U8s will form a guard of honour for the Beauly Shinty Team as they enter the pitch to play Éire Óg this evening at the club.

The U10s (born 2012) will be playing at half time during the senior football semi-final game between Éire Óg and Corofin in Cusack Park this Sunday 16th October.

Ladies football

A super win in the U14C cup final v Corofin last weekend. The girls dug deep to grind out the win in miserable conditions in Clarecastle last Sunday. A great achievement having just come up from the D grade last year. Thanks to the management team for their work with the group: Karl Murtagh, Catherine Gleeson, Sheena Friel, Leaonard Power, Aisling Clohessy & Ava O’Connor. Onwards and upwards girls.

Ferns Fitness Fridays

This Friday Ferns Fit class will take place in the field. 6.05pm for 45 mins, €5 per class.

Club Lotto

13/10/2022 numbers drawn: 12, 19, 25, 24. There was no jackpot winner, we had 4 x match 3s, €25 each going to: Bobby Gray, Pat McInerney, Tony Brohan and Michael Dinan. Adrian Kearney won the promoters prize of €25.
