This weekend's crunch fixtures. Hugely important to see strong Townie support from the sidelines for our teams #redandwhite. We have a clash on Sunday for the ladies final and the minor semi so calling on all supporters to make the effort to attend one of those games as well as the junior hurling 1/4 final on Saturday, and not forgetting our junior Cs on Sunday.

Best wishes to all teams. Come on the Townies.

Cúrsaí Gaeilge

Coaching as Gaeilge for U8 and U10 girls is continuing with John O' Sullivan, Sinéad Ní Dhonnchú and others and we hope to extend it to other groups soon.  It's informal, occasional, with use of phrases such as 'Fáilte romhaibh', 'maith sibh', 'bailígí isteach' etc. to show the children that Irish is a living language.  It is not intended that Irish would be the coaching language.

Bhí Tráth na gCeist Boird againn sa chlubtheach Dé hAoine seo caite.  Bhíomar réasúnta sásta leis an oíche, 6 tables, mainly newcomers who heard of the quiz through the 'An Clár as Gaeilge' whatsapp group.  Unfortunately the quiz clashed with the Junior A football quarter final, which I'm sure deprived us of several more tables! Mo bhuíochas le John mahon, Sinéad Ginnane agus Sinéad Ní Dhonnchú, who helped run the event. Míle buíochas to all that supported the quiz, we raised €180 for the Alzheimer’s Centre in Cahercalla.

Caint is craic continues on Thursday nights, 9-10pm.  Fáilte roimh chách.

Na Ceoltóirí Óga resume practice next Thursday 10ú Dheireadh Fomhair.  We will not be entering Scór na bPáistí or Scór na nÓg an Clár this year.  Tá súil agam go mbeimid páirteach i dTráth na gCeist Sinsear-Seaimpíní an Chondae!

Academy News

Our regular Academy season is beginning to wind down now.

Last Saturday our U17 hurlers suffered a disappointing defeat to St. Joseph's in the "A" Championship semi-final. The minors have enjoyed a good season however, reaching the last four of the "A" Championship, and winning the Academy "A" title last month.

Wishing the very best to the boys in Sunday's U17 Football Championship Division One semi-final v St. Joseph's again. Game throws in at 3.30pm in Clarecastle. With our super Intermediate girls contesting the Co. Final in Doonbeg we will naturally be lower on support. If not travelling to Doonbeg on Sunday please come down to Clarecastle to cheer on the lads.

Safe travels to all involved with the U10 group heading to Annaghdown, Co. Galway on Saturday morning where they'll play a monster hurling blitz against teams from Annaghdown, Kinvara, Claregalway and Toureen. Huge thanks to Annaghdown GAA for organising the big day and inviting us to participate after we hosted them in Clonroadmore last year. Best of luck to all the boys travelling.  We understand a stop at Supermacs may be on the cards on the journey home!

The Academy has begun utilising the AstroTurf pitch at Ennis National School for the autumn. More details will be furnished to parents shortly regarding proposed contributions to help pay for the rental of the pitch.

Ladies football

Our intermediate ladies join the club history books this Sunday when they contest the Intermediate Ladies Football Cup final for the first time ever. Honours for the adult ladies club since its inception in 2002 include winning the Division 3 League in 2014, Junior A Championship in 2014 and Division 2 League in 2022. A huge amount of hard work, training and perseverance has now delivered them to the 2024 Intermediate Final.

The club is very proud of this group of ladies and their management team and is cognisant of the toil over many hours, weeks and years it has taken to reach this point.

We wish them the very best on Sunday and look forward to seeing a sea of red and white out in Doonbeg to support the girls from the sidelines. Best wishes also to our U10 players who will feature at half time.

Come on the Townies.

The ladies U14 White Team have come to the end of their season. They have developed so much this year, had fun and formed lovely friendships along the way.
Thanks to all of you, the parents for your support and cheers throughout the year.

U12 LGFA had a great pizza party night in the clubhouse last weekend.

We have the biggest number of girls playing at all codes and age groups in 2024.

We are delighted to see them progress and move up each year!

Thanks to coaches Ann and Mark for sending these in.
