Provisional championship fixtures for adult football, hurling, camogie and ladies football have been added to the Éire Óg Clubzap. Yet to be added are Junior Camogie and Junior C Football.
There may be some changes to the listed fixtures so don’t take them as bible just yet. In the event of Clare reaching the All-Ireland Hurling Final, the start of the senior hurling championship would be deferred. Football would proceed as planned.
As ever, times are noted for some games. For games with no provisional time, a placeholder time of 09:08 has been used, the correct times will be added once confirmed.
Please note, you may notice some games posted more than once on Clubzap recently, this is due to fixtures from the Clare GAA website now automatically being posted to our Clubzap. We will continue posting our own version of fixtures for the moment.
A Clare Day Out
All roads lead to Croke Park this Sunday for a Clare double header with the senior camogie team starting off proceedings at 1.30 when they take on Tipp in the All-Ireland quarter-final. At 4pm the senior hurlers take on Limerick in the semi-final which has been sadly confirmed to be one of the last games that Shane O’Donnell will play for Clare after Shane officially announced his intention to retire this year. The announcement comes 13 years after Shane’s debut with the Clare senior hurlers in 2013, and he will be forever remembered for his famous Man of the Match appearance in the All-Ireland Senior Hurling Final replay where his tally of 3 goals and 3 points blew Cork out of the water on the day. May the number 13 bring a bit of luck on Sunday and possibly lead him to the path of a possible 3rd All-Ireland Senior Medal! Great news to hear that David Reidy has passed all of his checks following a initially frightening knock in the quarter-final v Dublin and is included on Sunday’s match day panel. Best of luck to our two lads and to the team and management on the day. Up the Banner!
A large crowd will descend on Croke Park on Sunday, it would be great to see as many as possible get in early to support the Senior camogie team at 1.30, these double header days don’t come around too often. Wishing the very best of luck to the camogie team and management for the game.
Our Minor team got their championship campaign underway Firday evening after a bye in the opening round. The girls travelled to Clonlara to take on Truagh Clonlara in round 2 and produced a strong performance to claim a well-deserved victory on a final score of 1-11 to 2-06.
The minor girls welcome Parteen/Meelick to Éire Óg next Friday 10th, throw-in 6:30pm.
Best of luck to the players and management as they look to build on this excellent opening win.
*Best of Luck to Clare!* Everyone in Éire Óg Camogie would like to wish the Clare Senior Camogie & Hurling teams and management the very best of luck as they take on Tipperary & Limerick in the All-Ireland Senior Camogie Championship quarter-final & All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship semi-final in Croke Park this Sunday.
Wishing all the players and management the very best of luck. Up the Banner! 💛💙
Her Sport Workshop with Ailish Considine
Éire Óg is delighted to host a Her Sport Workshop for females aged 16–25 on Monday, 27th July at 7:30-9:30pm. The workshop which is designed to support young women in and around sport, particularly at an age where many start to lose confidence, step away, or feel unsure about their place in sport and physical activity, will be facilitated by Ailish Considine, former camogie, LGFA and AFLW player. To help us plan the event, we are asking females interested to complete a short attendance interest form. This will help us determine whether our clubhouse can accommodate everyone or if we need to secure a larger venue. Please fill out this form if interested in attending https://forms.cloud.microsoft/e/iinUKgy9dH.
The workshop is free of charge and open to all females aged 16-25, from Éire Óg & beyond so please share with your friends & family. Her Sport is an organisation dedicated to empowering girls and women through sport by increasing visibility, creating opportunities and supporting participation. Our Gaelic for Mothers n Others team are well along the way on their ‘Walk to New York’ challenge. Since June 15th and up to July 25th, participants aim to clock up steps to the equivalent of the 4990km distance from Clare to New York. This is one the fundraisers to assist the group with costs for their Festival of Football Blitz in New York this October.
You can support the ladies by ‘buying a line’ for €5. Everyone that supports this will be automatically entered into a draw for a Clare jersey signed by the senior hurling team. Contact any of the LGFA committee to support or alternatively Revolut Ruth Culligan. If using Revolut, include NY Walk and your full name with the payment. Entry is €5 or multiples of €5. Féile Peil @ Éire Óg
To those present at last weekends Féile Regional Football Finals it will come as no surprise to hear that despite the occasional inclement weather, the day in itself was a tremendous success for the Club.
A day when Éire Óg was displayed as a showcase that we can all be extremely proud of.
The number of plaudits received from visiting Club's following the event was a testament to all those who contributed in any way to organising the event and in helping out throughout the day, along with our loyal members who contribute to the running of the Club on a daily basis.
To everyone that was available to give of their time to help yesterday, a massive thank you. To Martin Nugent and the CE Scheme staff for the carpet like pitches and to Clonroad Brew for pumping out the coffees and treats all day. To Michael Sheedy for providing the marquee which provided shelter during the wet patches, a massive thank you. A very special mention to Kieran Frawley, Academy Chair who worked tirelessly to ensure that every detail was covered. To Adrian Barrett who co-ordinated the event so professionally with the assistance of his Academy volunteers.
To the supporters, families and friends who turned out to cheer on our U15 Footballer's, thank you.
Thanks to Brian Pyne Tiles and Air Nav for their generosity in sponsoring the gear for the panel of player which is always appreciated. And of course, to our U15 Footballers and their Management Team who gave us the opportunity to showcase our club. The players performed tenaciously before exiting at the Cup Semi-Final stage. Well done lads, ye can be extremely proud of reaching the Regional Féile Finals and for yere performance throughout the tournament. Brian Howard
