Last but certainly not least, we have Dean D’Auria Captain of the Tulla Road brigade introduce his team. The lads and ladies have been busy with training sessions in the lead up to the competition, with their final session on Christmas Day which will be followed up by an almighty feast from the famous Enzo's kitchen on Parnell Street…
Captain Dean D’Auria - a blow in to the Tulla road - the ambition this year is to cause a few upsets and have a great day out as a club. There’s a good mix of hurlers and footballers in the team and hopefully all goes to plan on the day… we seem to have the youth and legs on a few of the opposition having done some Bielsa like research.
The Tulla Road squad has a bit of everything. The smallest of the squads on the day, a few county players have bolstered the squad this year. There might hopefully be a few late additions to the squad as we are awaiting confirmation for flights booked home after players saw the draw - We haven’t the same financial backing as other roads so it’s out of our own pocket.. There are a couple of brothers on the team so hopefully that togetherness can drive us on.
The Tulla Road, famous for the Tierneys Scones and O’Connors buns. The history might not be as great as other parts of the town but It would be remiss to not mention a great club man who is sadly no longer with us. Pat Fitzpatrick lived just at the roundabout by the Tulla Road and Fitzpatricks shop is known to all. Pat was the epitome of club man, Pat is missed by all and especially missed up at trainings where he always had a kind word and a smile for all players. We will be thinking of Pat and all the clubmen and women we have lost over the years on St Stephen’s day.
